Love where you live…

Empire Bluffs, Empire MI

I was lucky enough to grow up near a protected National Lakeshore.  It’s an incredibly safe rural community.  I went to college 3 hours away and loved the more populated scene.  I spread my wings a bit further and signed up for a study abroad program which allowed me to live in Europe for 2 months.  Was I ever glad to return to my sleepy hamlet after that whirlwind tour!  I saw so many beautiful cities, small towns and countryside inbetween, but all of it made me realize how much I loved my tiny little corner of the planet.

After college, my husband and I moved every 6 months for his job.  We lived in a different midwestern city, an east coast capital and an up-and-coming southern locale.  We loved exploring these areas and made great friends wherever we landed, but the novelty was wearing out.

In a perfect turn of events, we found out we were expecting AND my husband was offered a great opportunity in our hometown in the same month.  We packed our bags and boomeranged home.  And we’ve never looked back.

We feel blessed to share this little slice of paradise with our kids and hope that someday they will leave it so they can appreciate it as much as we do.
