Done is better than perfect. What?? Yep, done is better than perfect. Gulp. I needed to hear that. Then add “And perfect never gets done.” Sigh. Yep. This is me. I really needed to hear this.
Although I need to apply this to so many areas in my life, I really needed to apply it to my photo library. Every year for 5 years, I made a resolution to get control of my photo library. If you’re a Mac user, you remember when “iPhoto” was discontinued and replaced with “Photos.” And just like that, my photos were suddenly not organized in the way I was used to. I found it all so confusing! And how do you share the photos? Or download them to other websites? The whole thing became so overwhelming to me, I didn’t even want to look at or access my photos.
Then, one day, I was listening to a podcast and heard the words “done is better than perfect,” and it gave me permission to get it “done”. Is it perfect? NO! Do I dream of a photo library without any junk pictures? YES! Have I gotten that detailed in my organization? NO! But…if you asked me for a picture of my second child crawling, I could find it on my phone in a matter of moments. My pictures can be searched by person, keyword or date. None of that takes up memory on my phone. Ahhhh!
This has lifted a weight off my shoulders that I didn’t even realize was there. So maybe you needed to hear that: done is better than perfect. It really is. I promise.
